UNBOXING: Jollibee Funko POP! (Philippines Exclusive)
Toy Insight / Review
The most sought after Funko POP! toy here in the Philippines - JOLLIBEE! For those who don't know who Jollibee is, Jollibee is a fast food chain here in the Philippines similar to Mcdonald's. Actually, Mcdonald's isn't as big as Jollibee here in the Philippines, Jollibee is so much bigger!
How did we get our hands on this elusive toy?
We went to APCC (AsiaPOP Comic Con) last weekend, APCC is the most awaited convention here in the Philippines similar to SDCC (San Diego Comic Con) because of it's exclusive talks with industries POP icons (Toy Designer, Comic Book Artist, Cosplayers and International Superstars) and they even show exclusive trailers and teaser bought by Marvel, Netflix and Disney. Basically, a geeks weekend getaway, and we happened to be a huge toy geek. This year, APCC offered it's first exclusive FUNKO POP! Toy to that convention and sure enough Funatics here in the Philippines lined up for this event. (We'll be doing a separate APCC Experience blog post)
First day of the convention, there were outrageous stories of people lining up for 6 hours just to get their hands on this toy. Luckily for us, We went on the third day of the event, the lines was as smooth as the baby's bum and the misfortune of day 1, became the trial of how they would sell the toy more effectively without lining for 6 freaking hours. The new system was - STABS and ONE toy per PERSON system, they gave stabs to people on what time you can buy your Jollibee Funko POP! and you can only buy the toy once. We didn't really had a lot of trouble getting this bad boy. In fact, We had so much spare time that we managed to get Jollibee's signature on the convention.
On to the physical toy review, Jollibee's color isn't as red as it's store. This toy's color is more on the maroon side and almost had a bad paint job on the forehead. The other flaw that I saw online posted by our common Funko Funatics here in the Philippines is that the wings are easily broken. As for a Out-of-the-Box Collector this could only mean that our toy could be in danger for damaged if we take it out of the box especially this one, because this toy is hard to balance in a standing position. I wish it had like a platform like on Star Wars Funko POP! figures. Lastly, this Jollibee Funko POP! figure isn't a wobbler. If your a bubble-head toy collector, this isn't a POP! for you.
Today, this Funko POP! is currenlty out of stock in all stores here in the Philippines, so this means a massive after market sales are going to be engaged online. I hope that this isn't going to be to pricey in resell. Rumor has it in Funko Funatic groups here in the Philippines, is that they will re-release this by the end of the year. I hope some collector could get their hands on the re-release but for now, Funatiscs, Happy Hunting!
