UNBOXING: KAWS x Sesame Street x Uniqlo (Cookie Monster and Elmo Plushies)

We finally get our hands on a KAWS product!

Last time Uniqlo did a collab with KAWS, it was last year 2017 - Peanuts Collab.
They made shirts and 2 variant size of Snoopy Plushie,
not to mention they also did 2 colors ~ Black and White.
Sadly, we didn't had the chance to score those last year.
We didn't had a lot of spare money last year to start the toy collection,
luckily the wheels have turned...
We're now able to save money in advance in order to cop these this year.

These bad boys cost Php 1,490 which is roughly $29 in US,
but the difference here in Manila and the US is that I saw online,
these were selling in $39.90 in retail at US which is Php 2,000.
I think these are sold cheaper here in Asia rather than the US maybe because of the
shipping and manufacturing? It's made in China which is closer to us.

I note that we have on these plushies are the sizing.
Elmo happens to be the most well proportioned plushie on the whole gang.
By the way, these collection comes in 5 characters which is Big Bird,
Ernie, Bert, Cookie Monster and Elmo.
Cookie Monster happens to be the smallest of the bunch and
he has a weird hand position and his mouth won't open that much.

Was it Worth It?

Overall, These plushies are not cheap. If you think this is a stuff toy
you can just give to your kid. Well, think again.
These plushies as I mentioned on the video are a piece of artwork from KAWS.
His regular vinyl toys sells for $300 in retail (that's Php 15,000).
This would probably be the cheapest KAWS artwork we could ever afford.
Just like the Murakami x Doraemon Plushie, this is a collectible for the
art lover and also for the resellers.
I'll admit these toys might be an investment in the future.
Murakami and KAWS are gaining a lot of popularity in the mainstream media
that means their works might cost more in the coming years.
I do love that Uniqlo gives us a chance to own an artwork from
these Artist. For all we know, they could be the next Andy Warhol of our generation.
